Meet Season 7's Little Opera Students
This season we worked with 36 students in grades K-9, many of whom were returning for their 3rd, 4th, 5th, and even 6th season at Little Opera. Rather than speak for them, here are a few of their own thoughts about their year with us.
How do you work with another student to write a song?
"By having my idea and the other person's idea and putting them together till there's something we like." — Zia, 3rd Grade "By giving feedback." — Bianca, 2nd Grade "We do the rhythm sticks. We take turns doing it, whichever one we think is the best, we choose that one." — Beatrice, 1st Grade "Me and Patrick sing. I sing "la la," he sings "loo loo," I sing "la la." I came up with la la, he came up with loo." — Alex, 1st Grade "Cece and me make up the melody. We are taking turns listening and choosing who does what part." — Camille, Kindergarten What would you say to each other as you work? “Me: This is so much fun! Them: We have so many ideas! Me: Papers are flying everywhere! Them: This is the best song!” — Solveig, 5th Grade "Me: Okay? Them: How about this..." — Eleanor, 2nd Grade "Me: I am crammed with ideas. Them: That's great! Let's hear your idea. Me: We should hold a long note after high C. Them: Yes!" — Katie, 4th Grade "Me: It would be cool if we overlapped harmonies. Them: I agree!" — Emmy, 5th Grade "Me: Let's make edits! Them: Let's make edits!" — Zia, 3rd Grade |
